Cultivating Epistemic Disobedience in Medical Training Through Alternative Epistemologies, Medical Systems, Humanities, and Poetry

This presentation is released on Monday, January 18, 2027.

Western medical training rarely engages alternative systems of knowing, and this project treats that as a question of whose knowledge counts. A curriculum in development for underserved high school students covers Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, Ubuntu, Curanderismo, Indigenous traditions, and the humanities; a two-hour pilot session reached 40 predominantly BIPOC students. A parallel strand proposes seminars, journal clubs, and a possible CME-eligible podcast for medical audiences.
